Elsa sat up front, still as a statue, gripping the reins, too stunned to move.
Even as they crossed the line, she stayed frozen, riding shotgun.
Hannah hopped down, gave the horse a pat, and looked at Elsa. “Are you coming down, or should I give you a lift?”
By then, a bunch of medics and Lyons’s crew swarmed in.

Shrugging off Remington’s grip, she said, “You’d better check my horse, something’s off.”
Remington was about to say something when a ruckus broke out nearby.

As Elsa got off her horse, the Lyons’ men blocked her path, ready to haul her away.
Rhett jumped off his horse and wedged himself between Elsa and the men. “Who do you think you are, taking someone away Like this? Do you think you can push the Austins around?”
The tension mounted as both sides squared off. Remington stepped forward and the crowd split to make way. “We all saw what happened on the track earlier. Elsa whipped Miss Moore’s horse, causing the accident. Do you want to make a scene now and make things worse?”
